169. What hatches from primordial egg

The concept of TIGSource's Commonplace Book competition was to take an idea from H.P. Lovecraft's "Commonplace Book" - a series of short ideas that he had written down throughout his lifetime but had never used - and make a game from it.

My entry stars a dinosaur who hatches from an ancient egg within a temple, and tries to escape, through throngs of archaeologists. A bit of a role reversal from most games, the player must tear the archaeologists to shreds as they scramble for whatever weapons they can find to fend off the fearsome beast.

The dinosaur evolves based on how the player plays the game: one who uses the bite attack aggressively will quickly evolve powerful jaws, while getting hit a lot will evolve defensive mechanisms.

The game was been well-liked by those who have played it, and came in 2nd place overall.
